Just got home today and found my sliver dollars covered in white spot!!! boooooo
My clown loaches have it as well but not as bad, i brought home a gold sev about 2 weeks ago so i guess he he is to blame, i didnt add any of his shop water to the tank but i guess he must have had it already???? he has a couple of spots on his tail but not that many, guess because of his colour is harder to see them.
my oscar and all other fish seem to be fine.

So i just wanted to find out how all you guys would treat for white spot keeping in mind i have scaless fish in the tank....loaches, BGK and bristlenose.

I read the artical at the top of this page.........should i raise the temp and add salt or get some chemicals from the LFS????

When i first set up my tank a had a case of white spot and as a result i lost 2 clowns.....mind you i was new to fish keeping and the only thing i done to cycle the tank was add bactirea in a bottle and i didnt have a testing kit either....rookie mistake! also the meds i got sold from the shop were for brackish water which also might have had some thing to do with the clowns dying

hey, Bigdot.
I got no expierience here, but i read so many times to bump the temp, that i suppose that should work.
On the salt issue, i'm not sure what to advice, for your smooth skinned fish may have a hard time with the salt.
but i'm sure you'll get more responses.

some moths can indeed be toxic, but mostly to mammals.
Not sure if they'd hurt fish as well.

i am now trying to establish treating a sick fish by douching method.
one of my friends had a white spot issue too...and i was told by the
breeders to use douching to lessen tank maintenance. all you need to
do is get a bucket of tank water, put a higher dosage of medicine,
then soak the sick fish in there for a hour or two...then release is back
to the main tank.

the main issue there is the water in your tank...it should be keep in
good condition first before treating, otherwise it will be useless.
white spot is normally a poor water related sickness.

Sounds like the ick to me. I cured my fish one time by useing some copper salt and turning the temp up to like 86f for about a week. After treating i just ran carbon in my tank for a few weeks, and all was good.

about 45 min ago i added 60 mls of promethyasul to my 500 ltr tank, that was half the recommened dose, now my whole tank is dark blue, all fish are acting fine and the blue looks pretty awsome, will post a video soon.
the directions say to leave it in for a week, do a large water change the re dose for one more week.

Just use Mardel's Coppersafe per directions (as long as you don't have any inverts which is in the directions)

wow that stuff sure did turn the water blue!! I used Aquari-Sol by AP Pro it worked well. The stuff is harmful if not used correctly or have inverts like Jim mentioned but it works fast and no blue tank.
