TOPIC: HEEELP!

HEEELP! 1 year, 12 months ago #97472

My oscar is about 3-4 inches long and he has what seems like red spikes in one little area on his underbelly, right where he poops! I'm really worried! He just recently ate Charlie Chaplin the Tetra, well, just his head. Do the spikes have anything to do with Jarome eating the tetra or is it something else, please tell me!

Can you please post info on your water peramiters, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and PH. Secondly a picture would be very helpful!

Well, my oscar lives in a 90 gal. tank. My father checked out the nitrates and stuff and I guess that they are where they should be. He won't stand still long enough for a picture.
You know where they poop? Well, I noticed these red spike looking things. He seems to retract them and stuff. He decapitated our tetra... But didn't touch his bones really.... So, I am not to sure about what it might be.

I just checked my nitrates, it seems a little high, both of my oscars started changing colours, but all is well now, Jerome is back to his colours, although the spikes have not gone away. Thisbe the other Oscar still isnt changing back to her colours though. She's a regular Oscar and Jarome is a tiger Oscar.

first of all welcome on board.
2nd, if it is a small spike, perhaps it is part of the sexual organs
though i haven't seen anything such even with my previous laying oscar.
what enters in my mind was it might be part of the pooh that is starting
to get out.
