My tiger oscar Xena has a single hole in her head. It did not gradually appear, it appeared suddenly. She's had it for a few weeks now and it shows no sign of healing. She also has no other holes and no signs of others forming. Is this HITH or could it be from headbutting something or maybe a bala taking a bite?

hey there and welcome.
That picture is no good for a conlusion on if it's HITH or injury.
But if you will answer a few questions, we can help you further.
HITH or an injury should both heal given pristine waterconditions.
I've had bad injuries heal within weeks, so i am affraid you are dealing with waterquality issues.
How big is your tank and what kind of filter/flowrate do you have?
Can you test for Ammonia-nitrites-nitrates and pH, please.

The tank is 35 gallon for now she's 4 inches long the water gets changed every 3 days or so. She isn't all depressed or anything, she acts as she always has. The filter is an eheim classic rated for like 150 gallons. The other day she tried to jump out and hurt herself but that healed already.

that's what i mean, i injury shouldt usually heal pretty quickly.
Do you use Prime/dechlorinator with your waterchanges?
I'd still like to see those testresults...
You say, 35Gl for now, are you planning to upgrade?
Your fish will need some more space in the future!

btw keep your lids sealed tight, for we had too many O's jump out of their tanks lately. Those Oscars can't be trusted...

We need test results for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Also if possible can you try to get a better pic. However i would guess its HITH but its tough to tell from that pic

I hope you know you will need a bigger tank for your oscar, at least 55g, and in the next few months!
