when i first started keeping oscars i found the easiest way to clean my tank was with a gravel vaccum and a bucket mind you there were in a 50 gal tank at the time so it wasn't that much of an inconvience to do it this way. as they grew i had to rehome them into my large tank and all of a sudden using pail to empty and fill my tank was no longer as practical as it once was. so off to petsmart i went to purchace a python to ease the burden. when i arrived i found the price they were asking for the python a bit out of line($55cdn)so after looking at how it was made i decided that this can be done far cheaper. with a stop at the local hardware store i purchased a facet adaptor(for draining waterbeds)for 6.99 then a hose of 25"(6.99)and finally an adapter to fit from my gravel vaccum to the hose(5.99)and voila a python for only $20cdn.

not bad, a saving of $30, so i used that towards the purchase of my two juveniles:P

you can save yourself a lot of money, you don't need to go and spend all that money on Python. I actually use a length of hose pipe with a gravel vac on the end and it works an absolute treat. I did buy a python and a few years ago but it didn't work properly for me because my water pressure isn't very strong coming out of the tap

A gravel vac connected to a hose, i thought everyone who has big tanks did this. Just stick one end of the hose outside. Imagine the hassle of doing a large water change using a gravel vac and buckets
I can't get no sleep

I change nearly 100 gallons of water on my big tank every two weeks, the thought of doing that with buckets is rather uninspiring

well thats all i do dellboy is when i do a water change i connect the hose to the end of my gravel vac then i put the hose out of my living room window untill it touches the floor cos i dont wanna soak my neighbours window sill (lol), then i take the water out to wherever i want then i refill the tank with warm and cold water adjusted to the right temp from the tap via the same hose, to be quite honest ive never heard of a python so if any1 has got a good description of it or even it a pic can you show us plz,
