ell here my little DIY project.

When we moved i bought a secondhand tank. Twice the size of his old one.

Tank measurements.
Length -- 185 cm
Width -- 50 cm
Height -- 55 cm

As u can see per the photos that the frame is standard 2inch steel tubing. Braced in the middle (top n bottom)
All the materials will be prepared and ready to go for the day that we move into our own house. so atm just getting everything ready. cut n painted/varnished.

Have only recently started the project with the help of my ol man.
Only got the doors made up. and the slat that the tank will sit on
Everything will be enclosed n flush with the metal frame so all usee is 4 metal legs and front. 2 big doors. and small middle compartment to hide the cannister filter. shelves on each side for whateva i find .

Am also trying out new ornaments for his tank. (as per photo. hollowed out chunk of dried wood for him to swim through. will add small river rocks later (as looking for river bed theme) / any living plant that he doesnt uproot during trials.

Thankyou all.
Well hit a nasty glitch tonight. Went to check on my tank n what do i find.
Since i filled it full this time. It is now slightly leaking somewhere on the bottom. Only reason i found it is due to my water going a brown stain from my stump. (which my Oscar loves) not major though.
I emptied it back to the original level to ease off the pressure. so now the problem is fixing it. think the only thing i can do is empty it and reseal the whole tank just to make sure.

Well drained my tank last night and transfered my oscar to a temp small tank.
Am 3/4 way through stripping the bottom of the tank of old silicon. Now one problem. i would like to reseal the reinforcing glass bits. But i got no idea how to safely split the glass to clean away the old silicon n re-silicon it properly.. Seems the tank was a half done job to start with.

Well just a small update on my DIY project.
had to make an angleline frame to support bottom of the tank. had three small leaks on the bottom backside. just weeping. so cut out silicon n started again. Will water test it tomorrow before work and hope to god that it sealed this time.

Just bits n pieces cut ready for the day i finally get to put it all together. But oscar will be very happy to be back in his tank this weekend.

Fritz, Just keep going you will get there. I know the headaches and the frustration. But when you get there it will all have been worth it!

minor update
start this with a big DOH!!!

Filled my tank up this morning, hoping that i had fixed my minor leak, only to find we didnt.
The leak is on the bottom panel next to a support so still leaking. in the same spots. though seemed to be only two of the three form last time.
Will hopefully redo the bottom seal tomorrow if time permits.

thankyou all
