gorgoroth created the topic: building a tank stand

ok so i'm planning on having a tank stand made by a friend, and i want to put a sump in, the tank is 170cm long, 50cm wide and 70cm high, what would be a good size stand and what size would i be looking at for a decently sized sump?

i was personally thinking 120x40x40cm for a sump and 170x50x70cm for the stand, so the complete height with tank would be 140cm, or should i go higher on the stand?

160 gallon south american
190 gallon malawi

Always go higher for the stand, it will make it easir when maintaining the sump. As for the sump go for at least 25% main tanks volume.

remember to plan for a light down there...

Dark sumps can be quite unpleasant to work in.
