toni-a created the topic: need help : nasty crack in the glass

While installing the sump yesterday I accidentally had a crack in the glass with water leaks.
I immediatly put some PVC glue over the crack dunno if it will work.
Do you have any suggestionsabout it ?

This is in the sump right? You could silicone a piece of glass or acrylic over the crack but it may be a weak spot.

best bet is to add a piece of glass/acrylic the size of the cracked panel, preferably on the inside of the sump. the best thing to do is replace the panel with a new one, as fortifying is always only a temporary solution.

160 gallon south american
190 gallon malawi

Yep it's the sump.
The crack is at a corner (the worst place :pinch: )
I put two pieces of glass making a 90 degrees angle, this is the sump, I don't care how it looks so I put plenty of sillicone and awiating it to dry.
How much time should I wait before starting using the sump ?

If its the sump just go mad with the silicone, put it on an inch thick but you need to wait as long as the tube says, some sare different depending on the finishing agents

I put a piece of glass with a lot of sillicone over the crack, it worked perfectly, it has been a two weeks, the sump hasn't leaked a single drop.
Goldfish look very healthy in there even though it is a non cycled tank one of them has been sucked by the overflow which allowed me to repaid the bug, pics coming soon
