DRACO created the topic: DIY Ceramic Ring canister

hey guys, just want to share this DIY ceramic ring canister than can be used as back up for biological filter. using a powerhead to deliver the water, the concept
works perfectly as tank corner filter or center fountain type filter. please take
note i used pebbles in lieu of ceramic ring coz i do not want to disturbed
my set up...

Looks cool Draco.. I kind of like how it spits everywhere ... Might look cool in the middle as a fountain lol

Why is the tank not all the way full?just to show us how it works ?

ha ha ha... yes, the tank where i conducted the demo is not filled to the max
to avoid the fishes on jumping out.... and yes, i lower the level to show the
spray effect of the canister... when the canister is submerges, the aeration
effect is cool to watch...

very nice, and you could probably do the same with K1 media to create a moving bed filter, so many options...

basically, when you posted that moving bed filter, the 6 liters empty gal
of mineral water plays in my mind.... K1 can easily fit the mouth of the
canister and plenty of space to move around.... that is 6 liters size
space for K1 to move around and water passing through them.... the canister
can be either partially floating or totally submerged.

that is one hell of a sump, i guess i'll have one of those on my future 10' tank, but for now that's still a dream. have to move houses first and find the money to build one.
