Maybe they'll be quick and easy to install, and it will be all worth it in the end?

Hi Paul,
yes, those plants and moss are real. Wicket bashes them up, but they just keep growing. So it works out :)

This isn't very complicated, I think anyone can do this. I've always liked working with my hands, with fish keeping that works out well for me :)

It's certainly no harder than baking a cake, or sewing a dress :P

Nice one Nina B) I always have a blue LED on through the night & there seems to be less bashing about. I'm sure yours must be much cheaper than mine but does the same job, wish I'd thought of it.

That looks brilliant, in the near future i'm building a new hood with led lighting. I will definately do something very similar thanks for sharing. The shop bought leds are way over my budget. :)

thanks Marshall, and I definitely concur. Nevermind it being pretty, it's useful! A fish that sleeps better means owners that sleep better, and everyone is happier for it.

Thanks! Post pictures if you do it, we'd all love to see :)
The LED lightbulb isn't cheap. For me, this worked out costing about 1/2 to 1/3 of what a store bought one would have, which is still not nothing. Definitely more affordable, though.

It worked, i just hated the beams shining in my tank.
So i thought i had the easy way for nightlights.
Wel, they look good on the inside, but you better not watch under the hood....
I didn't like the spotlights i have.
I just bundled a string of Xmas LEDS and threw that on top of the lids

10 bucks, and easy...but a bit unsafe....
But again i say:

Better be safe, than sorry.

btw i have an underwaterspot, blue led ,in my catfish tank, and it's marvelous. B)

I have a problem with my o wen I turn the light off at night he can't keep his balance and floats to the top of the tank and lies on his side unable to correct himself. After weeks of trial n error I found the only thing that works is a night light. Luckily I had order one off eBay so by coinsidense I solved the problem. He still loses it for a few minutes at dusk but I've got the moonlight on a timer so he never has no light.
