*justabeginner* created the topic: My DIY canister filter

Starting

my diy filter for my new 105g tank.picked up an above ground pool filter for 15 bucks 1000gph. Here it is.

I have taken it apart to mod the motor for more media space. I took a drain cap and glued it to the intake of the motor

I'm in the process of making trays for media to set in.thinking of using PVC drain caps.im gunna use this filter only for Mach media and water flow.i have capd the original intake port on the side and I'm putting it on the top of the cap.

Running to the hardware store tomorrow to pick up more fittings t valves and media I will post the rest of the build tomorrow.and if y'all have any input please let me know.

Great idea to mod a pool filter. Before you continue, though, have you given it a test run to hear how loud it will be? Or does sound not matter here?

Cool idea! Can't wait to see more. Is the filter new or used?

But I am with nina how loud is it ?

it is going to be all bio media does not look like to much room for much more.. maybe a little filter pad by the intake?

idk just talking out loud (or typing rather lol)
