Those are beautiful fish though the first pics looks like it might be Peruvian "Altums" while they have some similar characteristics they are still p. Scalare as opposed to true p. Altum but i might be wrong, the second pic though looks a little more liked p. Altum its all in the bars

I have never seen one yet . Those are stock photos to torture you. They will be here in September . He said the get quite big ...the body is the size of a sandwich

If that's true then we are talking about p. Altum, p. scalare doesn't get that big ever. Your going to have your work cut out for you, it is belived that they don't become sexually mature till close to 2 years of age. That's quite a challenge and accomplishment if you breed them, ill want fry and i know of quite a few people that would as well :woohoo:

Built my Pete unit along your lines but a bit bigger, 40 gallon. Seems to work just fine. My results are about like yours.
