tacha created the topic: a quick preview of Moodie's tank

this is how Moodie's tank will look, however there is still much work to do.
i need shelters, protection for the heater and everythings needs to be covered with epoxy resin (epoxyhars in dutch).
the cabinet must be strengthened, LED lightbar on top of the tank and as final touch laminate sticker in the same color of the cabinet in a form of strap above the glass. sow you can not see the drain.
it will be a christmas present for Moodie ;)
i started to make a tree root, but it was not strong enough sow i focused on my wall. this is the first time a made such thing i hope you like it :)

Wow nice. That's an awesome xmas present, he'll love that for sure. How long is the tank?

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.

Thats a great tank. Curious though, what is the purpose of epoxy resin? Is it not water tight? Epoxy resin wont adhere properly to glass. Stripping off ALL old silicone and resealing with new is the only way to reseal a glass tank. Possible I'm misunderstanding your plan?

it's not for the glass it is to protect the wall and shelters, it prevents toxic substances to enter the tank and also it will keep the paint where it should be because you work with water paint and it would wash off.
some say you can do without epoxy,by mixing paint in the tile adhesive, you just need to know that it will harden your water very well and be careful for possible toxic substances.
they aslo recommend to filter the water with the black sponge for a couple weeks and than throw the sponge away.

:silly: ;)

i f%^$# up my backwall !!!! :(

yesterday i did the last layer on the back side with epoxy resin to make it all watertight and save for the fish. today i take a look and saw that the front was glued to the tablecloth. i was certain that the front was dry enough buth i guess i was wrong.
maybe i can fix it buth i'm to angry and disappointed now to do it.
a lot of money and a lot of work is thrown away.
i'm sorry to all of you !!!
