them_fish created the topic: aquarium frame question

I have a 40 gallon aquarium 36*18*16. I was wondering what id need to do if I wanted to remove the top frame. it doesn't have a brace as its only 36 in but can I simply take top frame off? I am going to leave the bottom frame thanks in advance for your help.

no.... do not take that top frame off. it is holding the top of the tank together as the water pressure builds once you fill it.

Your tank is held together with silicone and glue.......... you are asking if you should take the top support off the tank.

The frame is there for a reason. Why would you want it off?

agree with Remz... the top frame protects the long span glass against bowing out when filled with water.
