I want to make an all glass top for our 125 gallon Oscar tank and used thinner Plexiglas dose anyone know how thick i should go we are having problems with it bowing how thick should i go I have never made anything like this and done great on the ones we have now i am just tired of turning them everyday plus we added lights to the top and want to prevent water dammage

any ideas?????

are you referring to cover or hood?

Its a cover I dont know if u use one but u put it down so the water dosnt splash up and hit the lights, and to help with keeping the water evap down im just not sure how thick the plexi would have to be

it would depend on if you have supports in the middle or not and with the lengh of the tank. as a general rule 3/8 inch should be thick enough but if your spanning 6 feet without and support you may have to thicker.

we are makeing it 3 sections bacause the tank is divided with 2 braces-supports it will be 16 1/4 in x 21 1/4 in 3 times cut each section in half and hinge them with handles on the lid

My dad works with glass and plexi daily and he said 1/4... Hope this helps.

well i broke down and quit being such a cheap butt and had my wife make some calls and we found an all glass top set up for the tank and it looks wonderful!! with any luck we can get some good pics of the tank and fish tonight
