Plecoprana created the topic: Plecostomus needing a new home.

Hi,

My name is Hannah and I live in Sherman, Texas. I'm a caregiver to my 84yr old grandfather and love every minute of it. Unfortunately, I'm having to face several personal sacrifices because being a caregiver means less time for the animals I love. My dear pleco friend has resided in a 20gal tank for too long and having no plans to revive my 55gal due to lack of time. If anyone is interested in the pleco please contact me asap. I'm giving the entire 20gal tank away, filter plus stand completely free. I just want the pleco to go to someone who has only good intentions for it's well-being.

I live in OKC...would you be willing to bring him to me? or meet me? I just acquired a 55 gallon today; needing someone to put in it!

I sure wish I could. That's why I'm stressed because my ability to stray far from home has become a challenge.

I work in Duncan, OK, a few times/month. How far is that from Sherman? (Duncan is in the southern part of Oklahoma....fairly close to Texas).

Hhhmmmm.....well I am doing a shift this month which ends at 7am...and by the time I "check out"....I leave about 8am. If I could figure a way to transport....I might be able to help. Can you show me pics??? How old? How big? Name?

Sampson had several pleco's in his tank....ate them all. I always wanted one!! (no worries; he'd be in a different tank!)

I commend you for taking care of your grandfather!

Niki

Plecky is approximately 10-12 inches. Certainly outgrowing the log plecky likes to hide under. Very self protective so any predators better think twice before making plecky into a meal. Was very difficult taking pics due to the fact it's day time and I never disturb plecky at night as I consider that personal time to explore the tank. Being a caregiver is a rewarding experience indeed but it sometimes comes at a greater sacrifice than we realize.

If Plecky is really allmost 12" , he's at no risk of being eaten anymore.
I sure hope this all works out, for he could surely do with a bigger tank.

Good to see you are willing to make this sacrifice, though it may be hard indeed.

Keep us updated, if this deal is made final.

about the transport, a pleco is tough and hardy enough to survive the transport without any troubles.
Just a big bucket with a lid( possibly with some small holes in it) filled with tankwater will do for the drive you have to make.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice Noddy. :) Yes, it's imperative I find someone with a large enough tank because I have a 55gal here. I'm just not in the position right now to set it up again. I'm gutted about my animals having to go through this transition period. I will certainly post any updates.
