Hi to all,I have a 250l aquarium with two by 9 inch oscars and two plecos in.Recently I was on a web site getting info on live rocks.Therfor I have a question to make and I'm not sure if it is a good one or not.Can I introduce live rock to a fresh water aquarium.Reason for this is that I have a high nitrate reading and I would like to have some anaerobic bacteria in it.Recently I have build a diy denitrifing filter but this was a few days ago and I was tought that it takes around four to six weeks to see any results.Regards to all.

you can keep live rock in freshwater, however the rock will slowly be disolved by the lower pH of the fresh water. this means the water hardness and pH of yr tank will increase, this will be ok for some cichlids but is not suitable of other fish species. hope this helps

Yes you have answered my question, so in other words it is not very reliable to do such thing.I guess I have to wait for my new filter to see if it works

okey then.... if it is a coral, it will alter the pH of your tank
if newly introduce. once stabilized, it will be as normal as other rocks

yes.... it works like coral pebbles.... when newly
introduce the tank, it will alter your pH... then
eventually, it will become normal....
