Fish Lady created the topic: General Hardness

I did a test this morning on General Hardness on my 30 gallon Oscar Tank and the test was off the chart. If I got a piece of Driftwood, would that help soften the water. If not what else can I do. Thanks for your help!

You don't have to worry about GH for oscars. A majority of the time they are fine.

Fluval peat granules will work too. This guy used Schultz Sphagnum Peat Moss (no other ingredients on the label) from a garden store. I would gather that you would have to continually monitor both PH and GH to ensure that the levels stay consistent over time.
