I did a 75% WC and my nitrates are still around 40ppm. Ammonia is at 0 and my ph is a little low. Before the change the ph was around 7.2 but it is now around a 6.6. I just want to make sure nothing drastic is happening and what to do next?

We need more information before we can help.

What size tank ?
What fish are in it ?
Type of filtration ? ( Specific brand and model please )
What is your regular water changing schedule ? ( how much do you change how often )
How do you test your water ? ( test strips or liquid test kit )
What is the pH coming out of your tap ?
It probably would not hurt to run a complete test on your tap water to make sure there are no Ammonia or Nitrates in it.

Also, is your water source municipal or well water? How old is your test kit?(& if it is a strip test kit, throw it away & get a liquid test kit).

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.

do a test on bottled water. It should not be higher than 5ppm.

130g.
2 oscars and 3 blood parrots.
fluval fx5 filter.
That was my first time doing a 75% wc and I plane on doing it twice a week. I used to do 30% twice a week.
I have an api master test kit and its brand new.
I am on well water.
The ph of the tap water is at a 6 which explains why its so low now.
The nitrate of the tap water is at 0 same as ammonia.
Ran another test on the tank this morning and nitrates are still high but ammonia is good.
The ph has gone up to 6.8 also

If at all possible do another 75% water change today or at least tomorrow and see where that leaves you with your Nitrates. The goal is to keep them under 20ppm.
Make sure to not test immediately after feeding or after the water change. Give it an hour or two at least.

Your bioload is too big for your tank. I'd think, in that tank, you could do 2 oscars, and AT MOST one BP. But I'd stick with two O's...

i really doubt the bio-load will climb that high after you did a 75%. check your FX5 .. see if there's anything weird stuck in it.... old food??? plants??? those can drive the nitrate up.

try not to feed them as much and test your water again. I would do another 75%, just to drive down the nitrate

I know im a little over stocked but only from adoption. None of the fish are at adult size and one of the oscars is maybe 2 inches so the bio load isnt at its max, YET. I plan on getting rid of something before it get out of hand. Ill complete a 75% tomorrow and see if that works.

When you get a chance test your tap water. We have had instances with people having Ammonia and Nitrates in their tap water. Which explained why people even with large water changes were unable to lower their Nitrates to below 20ppm.
