Have had these local rocks in 9 weeks. Last few days showing corrosion from high iron content. Water test today good, but is this a potential danger to fish?

My Nics coloring up real nice

Is there anyway that could be brown diatom algae? Kinda what it visually looks like. Have you tried brushing it off? If so does it come of super easy or is it more like its stained into the rocks?

No, its not algae. I'm in Northern Ontario, Canada. Even the shoreline rocks and small islands on lakes have that iron stain look. I'm more concerned of possible heavy metal content(not music lol) being a health risk to fish

The nics look good, you must be doing well by them. With your prime and normal water changes I would not think it will be an issue. What is your ph?

Thx Tom, yes Nics are doing great, the male is getting nice green around his head. Got the HBH you recommended, they love it. Not shy around O/JD either, they muscle right in there at chow time. Tank ph is 7.2.

I would not worry, my local rocks here do the same thing. Even the quartz rusts. Never had I'll effects.if ph was extreme either way I might be more concerned.
