OFL is a wealth of information, many very successful fishkeepers here. You will not get bad advice or ever be steered in the wrong direction.

X2. Well stated.

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.

What did you read that would have lead you to believe that that stocking level was anywhere near acceptable? I would love to read that article...... :pinch:

THOSE WHO REFUSE KNOWLEDGE ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

WATER CHANGES ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF THIS HOBBY. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE SO OR SIMPLY DON'T FEEL LIKE DOING THEM, RE-HOME YOUR FISH, SELL YOUR AQUARIUM & FIND ANOTHER HOBBY, AS YOU WILL FAIL UTTERLY, COMPLETELY, & MISERABLY.

Are you cleaning your gravel at all with a gravel vac during those water changes ?

Your babies are growing by the day and get messier and messier. How are your levels for Ammonia and Nitrite ?

Sounds to me like you’re not doing your nitrate test properly.

Also why people bother with 10-50% wc’s is beyond me. If you’re going to do a water change take the level down to almost the back of your fish & vac the gravel/sand thoroughly each time.

120g your good with the oscar. The JD’s with grow fast till around the 6in mark then curb off drastically you have yrs & yrs till you have a 10-12in JD. Whether they will tolerate your oscar is a whole other story though. The pleco & red I’d rehome. Just my opinion.

I’d really look into a canister filter (aquatop & filstar XP’s sale for good prices). If you want another hang on style I’d suggest a fluval c4 they’re the best hang on’s made imo ($40-$45). You want as much bio media as you can fit and I personally would have my total gph rate with all my filters at 550gph with that 55g (900-1200 gph with the 120g).

Yes, I am vacuuming my gravel on a daily basis; and I am also feeding them the right amount of food!

so that would mean that by using a liquid test kit, ammonia=0ppm and nitrites are 0ppm, right.

I think you are right, my nitrate test may not be working properly, I just tested my tap water and to my surprise I got the same readings, 80 ppm!!! I know it can't be right!
