It wont lower nitrates, the reading will still be the same, the difference is that nitrates wont be as toxic.

In my search for options to deal with my nitrate levels I came across a product call medium aquaripure nitrate filter.

Is any body here familiar with such a product?

It seems like an option, even though it is a little pricey.

Too much money. Try fluval labs nitrate remover first.

I have High nitrates as well, I have a 7 inch albino Oscar, a fat hearty guy, 2 Red tigers about 2.5", a plecostumus about 7 inches and a red tailed shark thats about 3.5" and fat, The big albino is fine, but i have noticed a severe growth stunt in my 2 red tigers, I have had them since december and they've only grown a little over an inch, My big Albino however has not had any problems? I have the Tetra whisper ex70 filtering right now,(60 gallon tank) I have the API Master Freshwater Testing kit (liquid) also I have about 30ppm's coming right out of the tap, like I said no visible illnesses, the little Tigers barely have an appetite? they seem to not like their pellets but they really get excited about blood worms. Am I overstocked as well? I have never had any dead fish.

oscars live over 10 years

plecos live over 20 years

nitrates are like second hand smoke. they slowly shorten the life span of fish.

for a 60g you are overstocked within 1 year. A 60g is barely enough for an 14" x 2" x 4" oscar. Oscars are about as big and thick as footballs when well taken care of.

You are massively overstocked. The Oscar, one Oscar needs that whole tank to be healthy. 55 gallons per Oscar minimum. You need over 200 gallons for those fish.

Cute little guy. Love the red markings.

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.
