hellimonster created the topic: Conditioner and well-water

Hey there,

Do I need a conditioner when changing my water if I have well-water? I have read it both ways and would like to know the best way to keep my Oscar Healthy. What is the best conditioner to use when changing water for "well-water" or are they all the same?

Thanks bunches :)

Test your well water for ammonia and nitrites (no higher than 0.25ppm for either). If it doesn't have any, then you are fine without using water conditioner.

I'm forever jealous if you don't have to use conditioner

Well, here's the deal. My husband just dips his finger in there and everything seems to be fine. He used to treat swimming pools but Oscar's tank seems to be cleaner. LOL

Anywho, we just tested both those and are at zero for the tap water.
