from the website

NOTE. These directions supersede all other prior packaging.

Directions for 10 g and 50 g

Use 100 mg Safe (scoop) per each 100 L (25 gallons) as needed to reduce chlorine and chloramine or per 25 L (6 gallons) for ammonia.

Directions for all other sizes

Use 1.25 g (1/4 tsp.) for every 1,250 L (300 gallons) as needed to reduce chlorine and chloramine or use 1.25 g (1/4 tsp.) for every 300 L (75 gallons) for ammonia.

May be added to aquarium directly, but better if added to new water first. If adding directly to aquarium, base dose on aquarium volume. For exceptionally high chloramine concentrations, a double dose may be used safely. To detoxify nitrite and nitrate in an emergency, up to 4 times normal dose may be used. If temperature is > 30 °C (86 °F) and chlorine or ammonia levels are low, use a half dose.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've contacted Seachem to see if the dosing is for neutralization of 1ppm of chlorine/chloramines.
Is there any benefit to Seachem Safe to Prime? I assume they do more or less the same thing but one is powder, the other liquid?
I actually find Prime a bit of a hassle to measure out for wc on smaller aquariums.
Bang for the dollar Safe is much more economical when you have lots of tanks or big tanks. Prime starts to get expensive!
That seems like a really reduced amount.... I do 1/2 teaspoon for my 210g. According to the new instructions I can cut that in half, interesting.
My instructions state to use 1 teaspoon per 200 gallons for up to 4ppm of chloramines/5ppm of chlorine. That's a dramatic decrease in usage for me. A single kilo lasted 1 year with my 240g aquarium under the old directions.
I do have 4ppm of chloramines in my tap water according to my water report.
Seachem has confirmed that 1/4 teaspoon of Seachem Safe treats 1ppm of chloramine or 1ppm of chlorine per 300 gallons. It will also treat 1ppm of ammonia for 75 gallons at 1/4 teaspoon.
The formula has not changed.
What this means is that you should check your water authority report when using Seachem Safe to figure out the total dosage for your aquarium. Not everyone receives 4ppm of chloramines/chlorine at the tap.
My city water report states an average over the 2013 calender year of 0.04 milligrams per litre of chlorine and does not use chloramine. I could get away with almost no conditioner I believe. But, as I have an 8lb bucket of Safe in the house, I'll get my money's worth from it.
So, what this means is that I need to add ~1/7 of a teaspoon to my big tank? Hah! That's awesome. How on earth do I add Safe to the hospital tank though, it's a 55 gal, so I'm looking at... 1/25th of a teaspoon.
I have 1kg of safe. It's going to last me forever.
