to start off can you post exact measures of ammonia,nitrogen,ph ??
and a picture would really help...

green algae is a byproduct of good lighting (sunlight and bulbs),
plus the presence of nitrogen (nitrite & nitrate). good filtration
system with a lot of lateral surface area of media is needed to control
it, otherwise, it will remain green even with good water change.

Would the answers be the same if the water was yellow?

ha ha ha... if your water is yellow, you have brown algae..... it is
different but can be cleared with the same concept.

I don't see any algae, I cleaned it good and when I refilled it's still yellow. What can I do to clear it?

you have to check the following:
1) the color of the food you give to your oscar;
2) the color of the glass (some glass had clear, bronze, or bluish shade);
3) color of the lighting you have over it;
4) are you using peat to soften your water.
5) background shade that could reflect back on water

those things could give you yellowish water but as long as it
is in good condition, you don't have to worry.

you have to check the following:
1) the color of the food you give to your oscar;

mostly brown pellets, veggies and some flakes
2) the color of the glass (some glass had clear, bronze, or bluish shade);
clear
3) color of the lighting you have over it;
the same as all the others, soft white light
4) are you using peat to soften your water.
nope but thinking about it
5) background shade that could reflect back on water
no background

those things could give you yellowish water but as long as it
is in good condition, you don't have to worry.

The water tests good. I saw you tell somebody somewhere that in an established tank you couldn't get 0 nitrates ( or maybe you said nitrites) either way mine always come out showing 0. I follow the directions very carefully and have been doing this for years. I use the liquid test kit (Masters) and it's color coded, always light yellow which the card says is 0. Help me understand this please and teach me if I'm doing something wrong.
Thank you:)

unless you have a heavily planted tank a nitrate reading of 0 is impossible have in a fully established tank. nitrate is what is produce by the nitrifying bacteria that converts first ammonia into nitrites then nitrites into nitrates.
therefore if you have a nitrate reading of zero then nitrites are not being converted into nitrates. this is why it is impossible to have a nitrate reading of zero. you can have a very low nitrate reading but it will show something.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

my goal is simple a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all
