Is this a fungus or eggs? I can't decide so I haven't done anything about it yet. The pics are bad but the best I could do with the sun coming in.

If you can't beat them...arrange to have them beaten!

It's clear in places, hard to capture on cam but this is the best I can do. Is it the white fungus Paul talks about? The wood has been in the tank a little over 2 weeks and this just showed up last night.

yes. it is a white slimy materials usually develops in
twigs and plants. it will not harm you fish but unsightly
to look at. i am not sure why but eventually, it will
disappear without action taken.

excellent preventive measure. it is very unsightly.....
i believe that twigs is not cured or aged yet.

is there anyway of getting rid of the fungus i`ve just bought a really nice piece of wood and i really dont want to get rid of it

My piece wasn't bought, I found it and liked it so I made it myself. I think Paul said it would go away on it's own but I can't find the thread where we talked about it before. He'll let you know

one way of preventing it in recurring is to soak the twigs with acid
solution and dry it. wash thoroughly before putting back to tank. it won't
come back. (muriatic, sulfuric or even concrete neutralizer will work)
