im in search of the best way to do a water change as not to shock the fish in any way. this is the new way that i have been trying.

i use the gravel cleaner to get out as much junk and debris as i can see. 25% weekly water is changed.

now what i have started to do is, i had an old 29 gallon tank that i wasnt using for anything. i fill that tank 90% full, and use dechlorinator. now as not to make sure that water is standing for too long, i have a aquaclear 75 that has no media and just the sponge to get out any snall debris in the tank. i take a bucket and use the water from the 29 gal into my 75.

its been working so far.

any thoughts??

also i was wondering if you can use bamboo as an aquatic plant? would it be benificial in any way??

thanks for any and all info!

Do you mean you bucket the water into your 75??? why not pump it using the hose fitted to the pump. i have been doing a very similar thing to you on a larger scale. i remove crap with syphon connected to hose, once I have removed enough I stop the syphon, connect the hose to my pump that's setup on the 200L water butt i use and pump it in. i then make a cup of tea while I what for all the hard work to be done.)))))

darryl2786 that really wouldn't work for me as I find it impossible to have a tank full of water and no fish in it. LMAO.... I keep 7 hob filters running and ready so I never have to cycle a tank from scratch. I just can't wait...

im looking to make one perfect water condition tank. im trying to find the absolute best way to keep conditions perfect. im thinking about turning my 29 gallon into a sump i know its probably overkill for a 75 but whatever. then i will have a eheim pro 2 running at 277gph and a sump! hahaha

i allready filter the tanks volume 3.5 times an hour. mabey that would be a little bit useless... ill probably just use the 29 as a hospital tank / water change usage.

personally i wouldnt bother with a sump for a small tank like a 75. the eheim should be more than enough for filtration on your tank. i would keep the 29 like you suggested as a hospital tank in case of illness.
as for keeping water in good candition just do your regular maintenance and dont overstock and you should be fine.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!
