I seem to not be able to find a list of optimal levels in the water.
I know the pH should be like 6-7.5
stable pH from 6 to 8 will be fine. just avoid the erratic fluctuation.
abrupt changes say "from 8 pH to 6 pH is more stressful than stable 8.
And ammonia is bad. SO obviously 0 is good.
0.25 is really dangerous and toxic to fish
But what about Nitrite and Nitrate?
nitrite is potent and once processed by good bacteria will become
nitrates. nitrite should be zero while nitrate should be 5 to 20.
higher than 20 signals you for a water change but fishes could still
cope up to 40 but stressful already.
Here's what i got on my first test about 24 hours after my fish and his tank arrived at my home.
Nitrite - 0
Ammonia - 0-.25
Nitrate - 5.-10.
pH - 7.0-7.2
regular water change to bring down ammonia.
do not clean yet your filter.
