i got my new master test kit from api and here are the results that i got i want to no if there bad or good because this is the first time i ever do this so the results are as follow.


ph test- 7.5
amonia- 0.25
nitrite- 5.o
nitrate- looks like 7.0

please help me out i no that nitrite is to high

Did you fallow the directions EXACTLY???

It is very easy to screw up a test... Please check that there are your readings.

Please do.. I have screwed up the tests more than once...

Also when you post again would you please include, tank size, stock list, filter(s) size and kind... and water change schedule.

ok the tank is a 55 gallon and it consist of a pleco thats about 6 inches and for oscars they are all diffrent sizes. tiger oscar is 5 red is 6 and albinos are 3. i no that the tank is kind of small but i rescued the 2 albinos from a nursery home in which they looked misserable. but to continue i have an aqquaclear 110 gallon filter. i was also running a top fin 60 gallon filter but it broke over the weekend. i change 10 gallons ever 2 days but i was gone since thursday so havent done it since.

but the new results are as follow.

ph-7.5
ammonia- .25
nitite- 5.0
nitrate- 20

these are my second results and i read and read on how 2 do it

i screwed up completly on the first one because i think i mixed the tubes

OK, you will need to do several things you aren't going to want to hear... A 55 is big enough for 1 Oscar. no pleco, no other oscars...

You need to either upgrade NOW to a 200 gallon tank, with a massive filter system NOW. or rehome 3 O's and a pleco now.

To fix your water, you will need to do at least a 505 water change, EVERYDAY until one of these 2 things happens. you also need to add more filtration ASAP.

yea i was planning to get a fluval filter tomarow and yea i no about the tank but i am looking for a new tank now so hopefully i could find 1

OK I DID THE WATER CHANGE TONIGHT AND I MIGHT DO ANOTHER ONE TOMAROW

you will have to do it everyday Hun! otherwise you will have major water problems. you should have

0 ammonia,
0 nitrite
and some sort of a nitrate reading.
