Hello,

I have well water. When I set up my tank I filled it with well water that went thru the aerator and water softener. I ran a filter for 2 weeks before buying my fish. Would it be better to use the raw well water before it is airated and softened. Should it sit before using it. I need to start doing weekly water changes and want to do what's best. Thanks. -charley

all you can do is test the water with a water test kit and go from there. Every well is going to be different.

When did you set the tank up- if it was recently your tank wont be cycled- read the section on the site about cycling!

Get a test kit for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate and ph and test your water and post the results please

the only difference between well water and treated tap water is the presence
of chlorine or chloramide and concentration of minerals.... but for the cycling
process, there would be no difference. fishes that are released in the body of
water could easily adapt themselves in there because that is a natural cycled
water but not in the tank of an aquarium.

but one thing i can share, fishes can easily adapt themselves from deep well
water in an aquarium than that of water from tap.
