Did the filter get washed?

Did it get turned off? and forget to turn it back on?

This does happen occasionally but it doesn't always indicate a serious problem. As long as your ammonia and nitrite are zero then you really don't have anything to worry about, the cloudiness should disappear within a day or two. However it is not uncommon for an established aquarium to suddenly develop cloudy water. Occasionally if lots of nutrients are released suddenly into the water, maybe from a gravel vac then you may develop cloudy water, doesn't necessarily mean you have a serious problem.

Occasionally, you may find that some of your bacteria die off, maybe you have turned your filters off for too long. As long as you haven't totally destroyed your biological filter it should recover fairly quickly, just cease feeding for a couple of days and everything should go back to normal.

I wouldn't worry about it unduly, like I said, if ammonia and nitrite zero you really haven't had any problems. Even if you do test for slight reading of ammonia that should disappear pretty quickly

I moved one of my tanks from a living room to a video game (room dark, less people). I think the fish do it. I moved them back to the living room, with all new water and no more foggy water.

Dirty. My readings were similiar to yours and I did a water change and upset the balance. A member told me that with my Nats being low that was why.

Wait til 40ppm before you change I was told. Everything is ok now.

Hope you sort it.... Jamie

Is your Nitrites rising after your water change as mine did with the Nats being low. I also checked my tap water for Nitrates and they were registering on the card about 5ppm.

I was told to leave the water changes until the Nats kicked back in.
