is that a natural color?, what a beautiful animal.
it looks like a Red Grade 1 Arowana (Super Red, Chilli Red, Blood Red)very expensive fish there. looks fairly large too. big ££££££ for a 6" fish you will be looking to pay £1.200-£1.500 and not know how it will turn out.
The Chili Red and Blood Red are both originated from two famous waters in Indonesia called the River Kapuas and Lake Sentarum. Lake Sentarum, consisting of many smaller lakes interlinked between each other, is at one end of River Kapuas. Also the vast areas of Red Arowanas habitat may be the reason behind the variations within the red arowana variety. Some seem to have broader body, steeper spoonheads, greater red intensity and heavier base colors than others, just for example. And, it is because of such differences in appearance, the early dealers in Indonesia created another two general terms for two main groups of red-turning arowanas found in that region. They are Chili Red and Blood Red. The names Chili and Blood were given because of their difference in red intensity, Chili Red has a chili color while Blood Red has a red color that looks like blood color.
It is very difficult to judge the colour that will be present in the adult fish and due to the long development period and unique combinations of colour these fish are often expensive and sought after in larger sizes.
