Congratulations! Nice tank.

3 oscars and one Severum is that right? no Bottom fish?

Whats the size of the tank and that dark bottom is it sand? what type?

Canisters used? it must be powerful for such a clean look!

Tank is 6x2x2 180 gallon. I'm running 2 aquaclear 110's and a fx5. Yes three oscars and a severum. I have a pleco and three raphel cats on the bottom. Yes, I know that's a lot but I take pride in my tank and strive to keep it in good conditions.

pH stays at 7.6
Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrites 0pmm
Nitrates are 40ppm

I'm keeping a check on the Nitrates and have cut back feedings. I'm looking to add some live plants to help combat the nitrates along with more water changes untill I get it under control. Is there anything else anyone would recomend sort of rehoming any of the fish? If I have to I'll probably lose a couple of the bottom feeders. I'd say two of the Raphael's.

Edit: yes the substrate is black sand with one bag of cichlid sand mixed in the help maintain pH.

For the plants you should try amazon sword and protect it with rocks nearby so the Oscars dont get to its roots and pull it off.

For the fish ... some maths for the size mentioned you have about 140Uk gal or 169US gal and this without minus the decor and glass thickness. I'm used to mesure the tanks, take out the glass and less of 10% that's more or less the area of watter we loose with sand and wood/rocks.

If the fish are OK with each Other... maybe a better biological filtration could help also with the Nitrates, I don't know those aquaclear filters, how much flow and what kind of filtering media they have?

Taking fish out One Oscar maybe and even so the other two might cause some problems in the future beeing in a 6ft tank, a litlle short for them. I'd go also for the Pleco, is it a commun large pleco? I've gott one too and I'm considering getting rid of him he's lazy and gives no help cleaning up the tank, only gets it worse because of his poup.

The FX5 is really nice, intend to get one as weel for future around 150 UK gal tank with 3 large cichlids at the most and some bottom feaders.
