Even though the fish store you got them from listed them as a red Oscar, the fish may have come from mixed parenthood. However, they look pretty red to me, and they will probably change color quite a lot as they get older. I wouldn't worry about it, just enjoy your fish, they look very nice to me

X2. countries/breeders are mixing all the time and to get a true strain oscar now I think you will have to import direct. some people are so particular about this they will want to pay the high cost just to have a true wild oscar. I like yours they look fine to me.

yes u are correct ofl. The pet shop man said it will change its colour when it grows.
these red oscars are more aggressive than all my other oscars in my tank and also chases my 10"big tiger oscar to the corner of the tank.

Can anybody post pic of a wild oscar.I have not seen them at all.

Re:WHAT IS THE RIGHT COLOUR? 2 years, 5 months ago #67478

I have one true wild Oscar. I appreciate the "natural" look of the wild oscar. Leo was a little over an inch when I purchased him. I will post pics in the near future.

This one is a F1 oscar..meaning captive breed but wild parents dude.
they have not much orange markings except the "eye" on the tail and sorta have a longer front(not as rounded)nose if you will.

this is what came up when i googled wild oscar so yeah hope it helps dude.

In australia wild breed oscars go for bout the $100-120AUD.
