Hello,
thought i would throw up a few updated pics of my Oscar. taken 3 days ago. He is approaching the 4 inch range now. He is growing fast and seems to be happy and healthy. I don't think he would ever stop eating if I just kept putting in pellets.

Pics taken with my cell phone (5mp and doesnt have flash) so the quality isn't great. I must have lost my digital camera, so I just bought a new one off ebay, it should be here soon, then i will play around with lighting, flash, etc.

Thank you TigerOscar99. My Oscar is actually a Red (or supposed to be ) I think as he gets bigger and mature, he will lose some of the tiger pattern near his tail.

Thanks Nicki, I love Red Oscars too. I like when they get that purple velvet tint to the reddish scales. That was my favorite part about my first Red Oscar that got to about 12 inches. Also, I always felt like they grew more quickly too, though that is just my impression and obviously no scientific data to back it up.

Great looking Red, very similar to mine when it was at that size. Is it just me or does the tank look a bit cloudy?

The tank water ins't cloudy, the white rocks on the bottom make a glare from the florescent light (also the inside of the glass has a little bit of a hard-water sodium deposit haze that I have been gradually removing with elbow greese and a razorblade during water changes). hence cell phone pic with no flash. But thanks for your concern. And as far as the Oscar, aus-car, i would be happy if mine came out looking similar to your O.

Thank you Jamie. Did you ever put fish in your small tank yet (besides the gf's)?

When I get the big one set up I am going to put the goldies in it too cycle it, along with some of the media from the filter and whatever water I take out when I do a change. That way it should cycle in no time i believe.
When they are in there I will put African Malawi's in the 2'er

I have that sodium build up on the 6'er of mine and it is a pig to get of. I tried teh razor blade (stanley knife) even wirewool on the upper glass strut. Nothing will move it.
A guy at work said to leave kitchen roll on it and soak the paper with vinegar for a while but nothing.
