Back in 1992 when I first got a computer, I also bought a dot matrix printer. I remember that it could take two types of paper, A4, or serrated sheets that you would tear off, the type that have the holes on the side. I used to have some labels that also came in these long serrated sheets. Do they still sell dot matrix printers that have this facility?

Yes, this is actually the first thing I did, I've actually sent various e-mails to different companies that sell them, the same message that I put on here, I just thought somebody may have some experience using one on here. It doesn't really make it quite clear whether or not you can still use the paper that you tear off, instead of individual sheets

lol yeah I remember those. In college I had a 'Portable!' word processor about the size of a microwave that had a built in dot matrix printer.

Well...yeah 'portable' if you actually like carrying around a microwave...(nowadays I figured out that must have been the reason I missed so many classes.)

You can still buy them and use them. Hell, alot of state agencies and car dealerships still use them when they have to print out forms and receipts and such.

Actually, I've changed my mind. My laser printer will print labels perfectly okay, just got to make sure I put the correct size labels, and set the software up properly so the information is actually on each label, and not smack bang in the middle of two labels.

just to give you feedback... yes, we are still using it for accounting purposes
like billings, circulars, and memos. it is cheaper and effective, though very noisy.
a DOTMATRIX printer can prints a loads of billing without malfunctioning....

oh the perforated paper or continuous form, we still use it...

I still have a box of those perforated papers, so i remember.
there's a generation gap here, Staffie!
I also remember the AMAZING noise one of those things made when in use.
