How have you got on with the Vista 64-bit? Have you had any issues with Outlook express? I'm wondering if Windows 7 is worth purchasing? Not sure if I would gain any advantage

Vista 64 has been working well.. I don't use outlook but there should be no problems. From what I understand after service pack 2 Vista is basicly windows 7 without some of the flash, but If you are upgrading from XP just go to Windows 7.
Also to get the benefit from a 64 Bit OS you need to run a compatable processor.. ie.. Intel core 2 quad or AMD Phenom quad.

I am running on Intel Core i7 940@ 2.93 GHz 3.06 GHz with 6 GB of RAM. Everything seems to run okay, I just got to have a problem with Outlook express, if there's lots of messages in the inbox or deleted box than it sometimes doesn't respond, not sure why

Sorry no help. I don't use Outlook, but it sound like a memory allocation issue. You maybe able to adjust the properties to improve performance, but I'm not sure.. Google it..
Just one example: Link

Personally i think win' 7 is head and shoulders above vista,
i have win 7 enterprise running on my laptop and no issues at all,
i think the only compatibilty issue was with a dvd programme that was pre-installed anyway

my son has loaded win 7 ultimate, and he is a serious gamer and again no problems at all, next time he formats will load the enterprise on his as well,
i hated vista with a passion so maybe not the best person to ask lol

i have never really had a problem with vista. i used a 32 bit vista os since well before it commercially available and called vista.
i have since upgraded to win 7 ultimate and i must say that i wont go back to vista. i find win 7 runs smoother and faster than vista.

btw i mostly use my pc for gamming and other than that all i really do is surf.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

my goal is simple a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all
