mishka created the topic: Anyone experienced with Frontosa's?

I would love to get a Frontosa Community going. But I need to know the proper number? I notice a lot of people will have a bunch of Frontosa's together, but is it 6? 9? 10? What's a good number to lower the aggression level? Also, what is the minimum size tank I could use for them?

Thanks.

ive herd they can be nasty to other fish and so they need to be with mates that are just as agressive they have them at my LFS in a huge 14 foot tank with a flower horn and read devil and othere big fish, they are lovely fish i see why u want a family of them!! i want to as well, but i dont think i could fit a tank that size in my house :) (well i could sit on the floor)!!LOL

One of my tanks is quite a small community (as in small fish, not low stocked) and the biggest thing in there is probably a frontosa. He is a whimp and likes to stick to his little nest he made under the filter occasionally has a go at the plec if it goes under there but not had much of an aggression problem.

Maybe it's an issue that I only have the one in there? From my own experience they can be pretty dopey so if you've got lots of faster fish in there with them they don't seem to get as much food.

(someone please tell me if I'm completely wrong and my particular Frontosa is just an exception because they're gorgeous fish and I'd like to keep more).

I'm no expert, but this is a pretty good resource on other matters, so here is their frontosa section:

they have a big boy at my big LFS hes around 12inc long and around 5inc high he is a big fish and they told me if he was put in a bigger tank (hes in a holding tank for sale)that he might get a little biger depending on the size of tank but i can give it a quick goggle and see what i come up with :)
