I actually have a yellow lab tank with non cichlid yankmates: corydoras, giant danio, rainbowfish and a rainbow shark, the LFS has tropheus moorii ?
I read they need to be in a group of 12+ they have high intra specie aggression but peaceful to other species, what do you recommend ?

In a 40 gallon - the essential detail you skip here. There's not much hope for success, never mind the extremely overloaded aquarium you're talking about.

Don't do it. Tropheus are hard to keep, read some more and you'll know for yourself it's not the best plan.

Tropheous are famous for colony die off for little or no reason, they require low protein food and frequent small feedings, their squabbles can turn lethally violent and they require absolutely pristine water or they will not thrive at all.
