2 males have staked out territory, and are doing a lot of stare downs. really brings up the color. these are only 1.25 " fish so the color is nice to see, bodes well for some stunning adults.

Must agree with you, it bodes really well!

Cyp teeth. Good shot :)

I always glare at people who reckon they aren't interested in lake Tanganyika because it only has drab fish. (it also means they only like Malawi for the colour, which is an equally frustrating position)

Just look at these blues and yellows. Some of the blue ones seem to glow, especially their tails :)

How big do these fish get when they are adults? Or are they already adults?

I've never heard of one much over four inches, but apparently they can get slightly larger than that. Information is a bit sparse, since they're very endangered in the wild. If I'm not mistaken, Zue Island is pretty much the only place you can still catch them in the wild.

Worth setting up a tank for some lake victoria fish somewhere. Pick your favourite ones, import good quality ones (contact the people at www.carespreservation.com/ ). Just to keep them going.

I have yet to experience the drab tanganyikan, housed correctly, in good water they all are stunning. I guess some of the Shellie's are less color full but still have color in the fins.

All my Victorians except the neyereri are CARES registered fish.

The Zue Island point is also becoming depleted. Until major changes to the management of the lake comes across cichlids will continue to disappear. At least the Nile perch are in decline .
