how can you tell a passive male?
and +1 on the smaller being female if this is breeding behaviour. however, i saw no nudging so it may be territory fighting x

Thanks Nicki.
Question - how can I have a passive male if there is only one male yellow in the tank? Do they recognise other 'non elect yellow' males and submit to them?

There is always one dominant fish in the tank... If he was dominant, he would have loads of egg spots... And trust me, Africans will cross breed like no other fish!
