Hello my name is Tanya. I set up my tank last March. I cycled the tank and it has never tested positive for ammonia or nitrites since the cycle completed. It is a 55 gallon tank. I have one pleco about 13", two yellow labs about 3.5", one sunshine peacock about 4", one red Zebra about 3", one demesoni about 3" and two Aceci about 2.5 and 3". Everyone is getting along fine. Just love the colours these fish have.

I do 75% water changes once a week. The nitrate has been high as I was off schedule the last two months. Just did a change yesterday and today to get it back in shape. On schedule the nitrate stays around 30 to 40. Any advice on keeping them healthy and happy is welcome.

Hello Tanya and welcome to the site. The pleco is killing your water quality, he is too big for the tank. Rehome the pleco, and until you do increase water changes to 3x weekly. Without the plec your once weekly water change would be adequate, as your Africans are still small.

I may not be the Boss, but I'm ALWAYS right!
