bassetman created the topic: Calvus pictures

I finally caught the Calvuses out of their hidey holes and got some decent pics.

The photos on the site where I got them were nice, but when they arrived I was shocked at the iridescent colors. I am very glad I got them. The pictures show a Yellow, a Congo black, and a Tanzania Pearl Calvus. They are about 2.5 inches and get to around 7 inches. They grow at about the same speed as the fronts, so they should be safe from becoming a snack. In the wild the share some of the same habitat.Yes Cebo I am quite happy with my choice of tank mates.

They have a lot of color that does not show in the vid. So far they are great fish, every one is alive and swimming.

Yes they are very like compressiceps, they are very calm and very pretty, Tje fronts sort of ignor them.

G'day Bassetman,
I have just bought a little Calvus - an inch and a bit long.
I'm not sure which type he is, more brown than black at the moment. How long do you think it will take for mine to grow to about 2 1/2 inches? I have read that they are quite slow.

Thanks
Stuart
