I really like the color on this guy. I'm hoping to get 3 or 4 females holding from him and maybe 40 fry. These guys are the hardest to photograph fish that I have. They never stop and are so freaking fast. I cheated and trapped this one with a divider.

this one is 4.5 inches, just about full grown, it is not unheard of for them to reach 5 inches.....about like a sardine.

Yes they are quite colorful, at least while in display. I have 6 males so someone is colored up most of the time.

The fronts and the Cyprichromis are together for now with some Zambian Calvus and Gold head Comps. The Black Congo White Pearle Calvus share a tank with some Orange fin Comps.

Better get at least 8 if you want some. they are a schooling cichlid and will not survive alone. They are great dither fish for the Frontosa, they draw them out of hiding. When the Frontosa get about a foot in length I may start to loose some cyps as they are the natural food of the fronts in the lake.I have some fry now more in a few months I'm starting a second colony in the calvus tanks. These are a "jumbo" size cyps. around 5" in adult length. standard cyps get to about 3.5"
