Desimons created the topic: Over Filtration

I have 55 gallon tank with 2 small tiger oscars that are about 4-5 inches 2 catfish about 3-4 inches and a common pleco about 5-6 inches. The tank has been cycled. I recently bought a new HOB pump that pumps 500 gallons, a 45 gallon HOB pump, and undergravel filtration. Could I be over filtrating? However after I have hooked up the new large filter it almost seems to have sent my aquarium into overdrive my fish seem to be thriving and the water is crystal clear.

No such thing as over filtration. Although you will be overstocked within 8 months. Two 10-12" oscars need a 55g to themselves.
