I have a catfish who got picked at by some cichlids. His fins are torn and his whiskers have even been bitten off. He's also breathing pretty hard and not moving much, although he does shift a little sometimes. I moved him to another tank in the hopes of a recovery. I was wondering if there were any recommendations for medicine that could help repair the fins. The fish store I go to recommended pimafix (which I am currently using), but I don't think he has any infections which is pimafix's primary purpose. Is there something better I could be doing?

Clean water is the best meds, daily 50% wc and he will be back to normal in a week

If the fish has internal injuries, it may take a little longer, or it may not make it, but there isn't much you can do for it except lots of clean water.

Fins will usually grow back when the base of the fins is still there.

But aggreed, fresh water is the cure, no meds!
