toni-a created the topic: the Puffer an invasive specie ?

Read this morning fishermen in Southern Lebanon complaining of emergence of a puffer fish which was absent in our water and that is causing severe damage to their nets,it is becoming invasive and since nobody eats it here it is becoming a serious problem.
Fishermen are acusing Israel of bioterrorism...
Are there any invasive species of saltwater puffers ?
Could it be a true bioterrorism or it is just a migration via suez canal as it happened with rabbitfish that became invasive ?

Haha bio terrorism by puffer fish. That was a new one.I´ve kept puffers for 10years and used to collect them.It sounds like real BS from theese fishermen.I cant imagine what kind of puffer that could live in Lebanon that is big enough to destroy nets besides Fresh water/brackish Mbu,big fahakas or maybe some takifugu species.and if they live there i would bet that someone in the fish hobby released some puffers. But ho knows!?=).

It's just about the puffer fish, are they really invasive species ?
Already the rabbitfish that came through Suez Canal did is largely invasive, whenever I go fishing I have nothing but rabbitfish, knowing this is not a native fish you imagine how invasive it is ( and it's far from being a delicious fish)

Any fish is an invasive species in the right environment. Warm water, lots of snails, not alot of current, no one to prey on them and bam full blown infestation
