WillyG created the topic: what to feed baby brine shrimp to grow into adults

I finally got the girlfriend to start enjoying tanks especially saltwater, all she wants are rays and sharks. :S However for some reason she has a fascination with brine shrimp so I bought a vial of the San Francisco Bay brine shrimp eggs and were looking to hatch them out raise them to adults and when shes not around Im going to feed them to her mollys as a treat. But to the main question. I picked up some stuff called Kents Microvert for fine filter feeders, understand that brine shrimp are filter feeders at a young age and im assuming they can eat bigger things like ground up fish flakes when they get bigger will the microvert work to grow them up to adults? Im not concerned with growing them up very fast just getting them to the adult stage then gutloading and feeding. I appreciate all the answer and any feedback is welcome. Thanks!

It shouldn't be, it's designed to soften in the water so the babies would be able to nibble off chunks if they're too big for them until they get bigger and can take them whole.

I looked at that link and it still seems like it would be way to big for the brine shrimp babys. I got microvert and Ill try and feed it to them and see if I can get it to work. If not oh well when I move out Ill jus have to try and grow my own phyto plankton. Do yall have any other possible ideas?

and if all that is too expensive: get spirulina flakes, a peppergrinder and grind those flakes into a pulp. i do this with all kinds of food for my newly hatched fish, whether they are cichlids, livebearers or goldfish.

160 gallon south american
190 gallon malawi

I have a bit of an update for yall its been 3 days and I still have quite a few of them alive. Ive been feeding the kents microvert to them and they seem to be doing ok. a few drops every couple of hours. So if anybody else wants to raise them but cant afford to grow their own green water and want an easy way to grow them so far microverts working out for me. Also does any of yall know how sensitive they are to temperature and salinity changes? im not talkin about taking them from thier 80 degree tank and dropping them into a 70 degree tank, but I dont have a refractometer or hydrometer but I top off the tank and mix the fresh saltwater by the manufacturers suggestion. I add the saltwater mix slowly as to acclimate them to the change in salinity and brief temperature change
