cavalier6908 created the topic: what is on my oscars head

Hello everyone i just got a new oscar from the lfs, After getting him home i have noticed a few thing. First he has this white spot on his head and seems to have one on his body that is not as big. I am not to sure if this is a battle wound from the lfs tank, he was hiding in a corner and the other fish was picking on him. Second he has splits in is fins, dont look like rot just a split. I not sure if these problems will fix them selfs or really what to do here any help will be great. I will post the pics of what i am talking about

They look like little injuries, nothing to worry about. If you have healthy water they will heal super fast. The fins will grow out brand new as well just like your fingernails do!

Is your water in good condition? No Ammonia, No Nitrites and Low Nitrates?

Its always good to save one hey and he/she will look even better after they settle in.
You said no nitrates, is the tank cycled properly?

hey tank been going for a while now all i have is ph and ammonia tester, I have to take water to lfs to test nitrates and other one they do eye droper test. They just tell me if its good or not never heard them say a number so i figured it was 0 if i am wrong sorry. they allways tell me its good i keep up on the tank allot. Prolly more than i should do at least once week water change if not twice, Kind of a addict at keeping my fish happy

Ah ok :)
Might be a good idea to get your own Master Test Kit so you can keep on top of it yourself. The LFS tests can be a bit unreliable but if you are doing water changes every week you`re on the right path.
I change 50% every week and don`t have any problems.
