OK guys some of you read my thread from yesterday about my tiny clown pleco vanishing. Anyway it's now been 48 hours or so since I've seen him. I did a big water change with the python on all my tanks when I got in from work. I removed the stump again checked the inside out with a flashlight filled it with water shook it up and no sign of him. The question I pose is at what point to I dismantle the stump deco and try to locate him? It's a brand new tank with him and a few Danios and the last thing I want to do is leave a dead pleco wedged in there contaminating the water. Any clue how long he could safely stay hidden in there without coming out to eat? Very odd/new situation to me and any advice is appreciated.

Was this the same piece the Oscar got stuck in? I thought you got rid of that death trap....

Didn't get rid of it just removed it from the O tank. Didn't think it would be an issue with tiny fish.

You may never see him coming out since its a pleco and they are nocturnal. Wait until the middle of the night and go look in the tank with a flash light and see if you see him anywhere. Put a very small piece of zucchini in and see in the AM if he grazed on it in the night. I say very small piece because he is so small that if you add a piece that is to big you will never know if he ate any off it or not. But a tiny piece of the rind with a small bit of the zucchini meat left on it, he will eat it down to the rind if he will eat zucchini it all.

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.

Im giving you a hard time about it because I too made the mistake of owning a deathtrap like that. I had fish get inside and get stuck and ended up cutting the thing apart to get them out.

Thanks Dmd. If I wasn't thinking that he's most likely in there it would be gone already. And I truly appreciate being given a hard time as it always helps me better my situation. No offense taken. I may smash that thing with a bat with ghetto boys blasting like the copy machine in office space whenever this is resolved.
