This was my deathtrap

Ended up that it killed three Parachromis loisellei. One came out with a bent spine and the other two just were never the same and died soon after. Apparently the holes to sink it were just perfect for fish to get into but they could not work their way out. :(

Damn. Mine is very similar with the small openings. Easy on the eyes terrible on the fish. I will try the zucchini thing 2moro evening and if there is no results I will break it apart in a stopped sink with some water from the tank. Hopefully I'm able to locate him still alive and get him back in the tank. Either way that will b the end of this deco.

Well it officially was a death trap. Broke it apart this morning and found him stuck up in basically the tightest nook he could get into. I feel like an ass hole. The only positive is the deco is now destroyed and in the trash. That thing should be pulled from shelves. Not safe for a 5 inch oscar nor a tiny pleco.

I should have thought it through better and not had that deco with a pleco or vice versa. Have the day off so I'm gonna go find a non deadly piece of deco to put in its place.

All the deco at my lfs is hollow and similar to the stump so I just got some natural looking plants. I like how it looks for now. The Danios seem to enjoy it although I'm pretty sure they would thrive in a 5 gallon bucket

That's too bad. Sorry to hear. If you do get another pleco in the future just be aware that they need driftwood to graze on as part of their diet to help their digestive tract.

Go do a water change - the solution to pollution is dilution.
